When opening a workspace that's read-only, you'll now see [Read-Only] behind the workspace name in the upper right corner.

How can I edit permissions?

If you want to set and edit permissions to a Workspace you've created

1. Select Share on your Workspace.

If your Workspace is shared and you have default settings applied to the Workspace, it will be accessible to anyone who has the link or the 9-digit ID for the Workspace.

You can also apply a password to the Workspace to limit the people who have access.

You can decide what rights to assign to users. From a drop-down list you can choose:

  • Everyone can edit – all users will be able to add/edit/remove content in your Workspace,
  • Everyone can read only – all users will be able to only view content in your Workspace. 

  • Everyone cannot access – this will make your workspace basically private, all users that have been granted access before will not be able to join anymore.

You can assign permissions individually.

1. Go to Share settings.

2. Choose the Multiperson Icon.

3. Add the specific users to the Workspace Permissions by Selecting the Add Users button. 

4. Confirm User by selecting Add with Access button.

5. You can also change permission types by Selecting the type of access you'd like to grant to individual users.

✏️Note: Inserting an email address that is not registered as a free account or higher on Hoylu will not be eligible for individual permission preferences set and will not populate in the Permission settings.

How do I share a workspace with other users? 


If you want to share your Workspace with others:

1. Go to your Dashboard and find your Workspace title.

2. Click the three dots next to the Workspace title.

3. Select Share.

4. After selecting share, the pop-up window will appear where you can copy the link, or send via email

By default, each new Workspace is accessible to anyone who has been given the link to the Workspace. “Anyone on the internet with this link” is the baseline permission setting for anyone you grant access to the workspace. Individual permissions can be modified using the (people) icon so certain designated people may have a higher permission level than others.


You can also use the Share functionality from within your Workspace. On the Menu Bar, in the top right corner of the Workspace select the Share Workspace button.

✏️Note: When receiving a shared workspace, you can use the link to access or log in to your account and use the "Open shared workspace" button in the top right-hand corner of your dashboard to type in the workspace ID for access.
