Communication from Azure - impacting our Hoylu U.S. Instance:
This notification is for a critical deployment to address a regression introduced by the latest underlying infrastructure deployment on Azure Database for MySQL – Single Server. Your MySQL server is not impacted by the regression itself, but since the underlying guest OS is being patched, your MySQL server may experience a restart during the deployment. The deployment is scheduled to occur between 21:00 UTC (5 p.m. EST) on 13 Oct 2022 and 12:00 UTC (8:00 a.m. EST) on 14 Oct 2022. The deployment schedule cannot be changed or avoided due to the criticality of the fix. Azure Database for MySQL - Flexible Server is not impacted by this issue.
During the deployment window, you may observe a brief (60-120 seconds) unavailability of the database servers for end users. The entire planned maintenance event, including each server restart, is carefully monitored by the engineering team.
Hoylu's Response and recommendation to Clients:
We expect that the Hoylu systems will become unresponsive for up to 2 minutes, with data-loss possible during this maintenance window. Since we're not certain of the exact time of the impact, we are making the following suggestions:
- Please plan as if systems will be down during this time (5 p.m. 13th of October through 8 a.m. 14th of October 2022).
- Make sure you and your teams are fully logged out of any Hoylu workspaces before the scheduled maintenance time to avoid any potential data loss if our backend services experience any disruptions.
We apologize for this last-minute notification, as it is not ideal for planning purposes. However, we were notified at 8:36 a.m. (EST) on the 13th of October and immediately put into place our Urgent Incident response plan. Our Engineering and Support teams will be monitoring this emergency maintenance from Azure and will provide any additional updates as they become available.
