November 2023 Release Overview
Improved Dashboards & Customizable Templates
In this release, we've introduced several changes to the Hoylu Dashboard. We've updated the layout to better meet our customers' needs using the project, and we introduced a new feature for org administrators to publish templates that are available for all users within their organization.
New Dashboard View
Now, customers using projects can access their projects via a dropdown box found at the center top of your Hoylu Dashboard. Additionally, we've personalized the dashboard with a welcome message, and easier access to create new templates. Simply click on the + sign and you'll be able to quickly select the template you'd like to utilize.
Project Creation & Access
With the new Dashboard view, each project is visually different as we highlight the colors. If you have a project with multiple users, you will now see the project users immediately at the top of the project. You can hover over each user to see the respective email address.
A major change is if users add a workspace to or create the workspace from the Project Dashboard, it will automatically get added to the project, rather than having to go back to the dashboard and assign it Project Admins will will also have the ability to edit the project and associated users.
Customizable Project Templates
An exciting new feature is the introduction of customizable project templates. Once in the project, administrators can customize the project template they design, then go right into the workspace, review the project settings, and quickly "Publish in templates." Admins can set the template's title and add a description. Once shared, users can browse templates in the Hoylu Dashboard and select the new template.
To utilize this feature, client administrators must reach out to their
Client Success Manager to request this feature be turned on.
Improved CSV Imports
Based on client feedback, we've made numerous changes to the CSV imports feature - aiming to streamline the entire process to make it easier to get started with existing data. With the November release, users can now drop the CSV file - where users will immediately see additional settings.
The first one is now to allow users the option to skip weekends and holidays for imported tasks. Previously, you needed to do this process manually. You can now enable this feature by default.
Another new feature is the ability to place tasks automatically in a swim lane. Users can use labels or trades to place them within the swim lanes automatically. The process compares whether a label or a trade matches the swim lane label. Any data that doesn't have a match will be placed in the first swim lane.
Weekly Work Plan Updates
The November release adds new additions to the weekly plan, including the option to look at the time range longer than 12 weeks. Users can now extend the project plan view from 12 weeks up to two full years - 104 weeks that are possible to display. When toggling with the display, the new options separate, allowing you to get a project summary instead of displaying everything in a per-day view. Additionally, when you minimize and maximize the WWP panel, the filters no longer reset.
Assistive Replanning
This release introduces a new feature - Assistive Replanning. This new feature will help resolve inevitable conflicts as tasks are pushed out. When reviewing conflicts, in the past, users would normally have to go through them one-by-one, but now, simply click one conflict. Once you click the conflict, you can say if you want to apply the same resolution for all the conflicts on the task. Then, whenever you make an adjustment to an associated task, the remaining tasks will automatically adjust.
A second new feature is moving conflicting tasks. When selecting a conflict, you can again check the box that says apply for all conflicts on the tasks, and you'll automatically see the numbers update. Once the user hits update now, everything associated with the plan can be pushed and be replanned to new start dates. Most importantly, the new feature also tasks into account weekends and holidays.
Resolved Client Engineering Tickets
Moving forward if clients are waiting for specific improvements, our Hoylu Support team will give them an internal Client Engineering Ticket number. Once resolved, we'll deploy the ticket numbers as part of our monthly product release. For November, the following tickets have been deployed:
-
15338 - A new setting is introduced to override the scroll-wheel behavior.
-
15212 - Task overlaps have been resolved, and overlapping should no longer occur.
-
15180 - Imported tasks will now be modified when moving to a different day.
-
14462 - Portals can no longer be removed by users with read-only access.
Enabling the Scroll-Wheel Behavior
As part of the resolution to 15338, clients will need to enable this new feature. To do so, via your client Workspace:
1. Go to the Control Center and select "Page"
2. Click on the "Page" tab.
3. Under "Scroll Behavior (Mouse/Touchpad)" select "Zooms the Workspace" under the dropdown.
