Hoylu Release Guides
Upon each release, release guides will be provided and stored in the Hoylu Knowledgebase. Specific product changes — our adaptive workspaces, integrations with JIRA, Digital.ai Agility, and so on — can be found in the Hoylu Knowledgebase. You can search our revised Knowledgebase any time – it’s available 24/7 to provide training and guidance on utilizing the innovative features of Hoylu.
December 2023 Release Overview
Hoylu Licensing Restructure Coming Soon
We’re saying goodbye to the 3-workspaces limit and the 30-day trial of advanced features.
Instead, we’re introducing a cap on the total amount of content across editable workspaces. This means that users on the free plan will be able to:
- Have unlimited read-only workspaces.
- Create as many editable workspaces as the usage cap allows.
- Keep exploring and testing newly released features without any time constraints.
Even after reaching the cap, free plan users can still edit existing content, but
- cannot add additional elements
- or add additional editable workspaces

Hoylu Projects Licensing Restructure Coming Soon
Project licenses streamline team access to Hoylu workspaces, eliminating the need for individual users to purchase a subscription. Project Admins have the authority to oversee project members and share project workspaces with external Guests, Individual Team Members, or the Entire Project Team.
Key Features of Project Licenses:
Hoylu can be used throughout all project phases, from concept to the final handover. Hoylu enables:
- Centralized ownership of project data
- Centralized management of project workspaces
- Manage both internal and external project members
- Unlimited project members
- Unlimited project workspaces
- Dedicated Customer Success Manager
- Onboarding, Training, and Ongoing Support
- Fixed cost for a specified duration
- (Optional) Project Archive post active project period

New Prefilled Tables & Enhancements
As part of our December release, we've made several exciting enhancements and added a new feature. Now, you can add a new column and keep the column styling/format rather than the overall table defaults - giving you the option to format each column separately and easily clone.
Additionally, you can now delete elements in a cell rather than the overall column or row. We've also provided some additional shortcuts to simplify the process. You can also select multiple columns or rows and elements within them and simply hit your keyboard delete button to delete all elements within the cells. Same goes for the ability in deleting the entire column or row.
Finally, our newest additions are two pre-filled tables that will pull existing data from your workspace: the new Q&A Matrix and User List. Once you drag and drop either of these tables into your workspace, Hoylu will automatically add your pre-existing customized trades to the cells.
CSV Connection Exports
In our December release, we've added some advanced features to allow users to export information on the connections in a plan separately.
To complete this new export feature, simply:
1) Click on the Insights Panel
2) Open the CSV Options
3) Scroll down to the bottom where you'll find "Also export Connection information (separate CSV file) and enable by tagging to on.
4) Once you toggle to turn on the feature, six additional fields will open. These are already auto-filled based on your plan's current data. If you decide you don't want to utilize one of the fields, you can simply delete the field. You also have the ability to customize the headers in the right column.
5) If you believe this is an export you'd like to use often, you can also select "Save as preset" before exporting.
Additionally, we understand many other tools use a 20 character Task ID. At Hoylu, we used 32 characters for the Task IDs. Now, if you choose, you can enable the feature to shorten the Hoylu Task IDs to 20 characters. To do so:
1) Open your Insights Panel
2) Open the CSV Option,
3) Click on the gear icon found in the upper right corner of the box. A new pop-up box will appear.
4) Toggle the button to enable the shortened Task ID.
Hoylu Plans Enhancements
We've made several enhancements to our plans, including the quick add of swimlanes, automatic selection of replacement tasks, and the ability to trace imported connections.
To quickly add a new Swimlane, as an authorized Admin of the plan, simply:
1) Click on the there dots to access the plan settings
2) Click "Add Above" or "Add Below" to add the new swimlane.
Note: If you still like the current way of adding Swimlanes, no worries - we kept that option available for you!
Based on customer feedback, we made enhancements around tasks within a plan. For example:
1) In your already scheduled task, you can select incomplete.
2) Provide your reasoning for the task being incomplete.
3) After selecting your reason, a new task will now automatically appear and be selected.
4) If you'd like to make any revisions to the task, simply hit enter, fill in the data, and click "Save and Close."
5) After closing the task, simply drag the task to the appropriate start date, if not already predefined in your step 4 edits.
Additionally, we've now automated the process of retracing virtual connections. When importing, we assume that whatever information is in the CSV file is correct. To avoid confusion within the plan, we don't want to show warnings on those imported connections by default. As a result, we've seen clients tracing those connections on their own. Now, we have offered the option to auto-trace the tasks. You can do this for all imported connections or one by one.
If you'd like to avoid seeing those trace lines, you have the ability to disable the feature by:
1) Go to your Control Center
2) Click on the Connections Panel
3) Set the Imported Connections under "Connection Visibility" to "Never" or "On Hover/Selected."
Dashboard Updates
To help streamline the user experience, we've made some updates to the thumbnails and visualizations on Hoylu Dashboards.
We've now made it easier to see the difference between active and inactive Projects.
Active Workspaces will appear brighter on the dashboard
Inactive Workspaces will be dimmed and clearly displayed as "Inactive"
Workspaces with recent updates will have a red dot next to the last accessed date.
We also updated the User Account dropdown to specify the type of plan you're currently utilizing. This will help in future releases as we launch the above-noted Licensing Restructuring.
Resolved Client Engineering Tickets
Moving forward if clients are waiting for specific improvements, our Hoylu Support team will give them an internal Client Engineering Ticket number. Once resolved, we'll deploy the ticket numbers as part of our monthly product release. For December, the following tickets have been deployed:

January 2024 Release
Due to the upcoming holidays, there will be no January 2024 Product Release. Our next release is scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
Knowledgebase Overhaul
With all the cool new features released over the summer and this fall, our teams are actively working on revising our Hoylu Knowledgebase. Current plans are in place to have the revised Knowledgebase up and running by January 2024. You can always access the Knowledgebase 24/7 at support.hoylu.com
