A Task is the basic unit of work in a Hoylu Project — it's the record that holds everything about a piece of work: its title, dates, duration, assigned team, status, progress, labels, and any dependencies on other work. Because it belongs to the Project rather than to any single Workspace, a Task can be displayed as a card in multiple Workspaces at once, and updating it anywhere updates the same underlying record everywhere it appears.
Visually, a Task Card is divided into three areas:
- a Team strip on the left showing the assigned Team's color and name (this stays visible even at the smallest card size),
- a main body showing the title and, when there's room, a description, and
- a status area in the bottom-right that changes color to reflect the current status with a thin color bar running along the very bottom edge so the status stays readable even when the card is tiny or zoomed out

On a Plan, a Task that spans multiple weeks renders as a single continuous card rather than being split up, so its title stays whole and readable at any zoom level, and the card resizes and reflows its text adaptively depending on how much space it's given.
- Drag and drop from the Task icon on the Toolbar (or click on the Task icon and double click in the general area of where you would like it to be)
- Assign a Team to the Task (if Team has not already pre-populated)
- Click into the fields in the rest of the Task Editor (or press Tab on your keyboard to jump to the next field and fill it out with the necessary information)
- Click the “Save & Close” button
- Adjust the Task card to make sure it is situated in your desired spot
