Eject, Delete, Restore Tasks, Milestones, and Constraints

Because a card is a representation of a Project-level record, ejecting it from a Workspace and deleting it from the Project are two distinct operations with very different consequences.

Eject a card takes the element off the current Workspace only. The record remains fully active in the Project database — it continues to appear in any other Workspace that has a card for it and is still included in all Project-level reporting and PPC calculations. Ejecting a card is a Workspace curation action; it does not affect the element’s existence or visibility anywhere else.

1. Click on the card once to select it
    
2. Click on the three-dot icon on the menu bar that appears near the selection
    
3. Click on “Eject from workspace”
    
4. The card will be removed from the Workspace

Deleting a record removes the underlying record of the Task, Milestone, or Constraint from the Project database. The Workspace element is flagged as deleted and immediately enters a deleted state in every Workspace where it currently has a card — not just the one you deleted it from. A deleted card renders with a dark overlay and a trash icon. The element is excluded from all reporting and dashboards from the moment it is deleted.

4. The card will now appear with the dark overlay and a trash icon in the middle

The Deleted State 

When a Task, Milestone, or Constraint is deleted, its card remains visible on every Workspace where it appeared — it does not disappear immediately. This is intentional. The deleted state serves two purposes: it gives the user who deleted the element a visible confirmation and an opportunity to restore it, and it provides an indicator for collaborators in other Workspaces that the element has been removed from the Project so they can react independently.

From a deleted card, clicking the trash icon opens a small action menu with two options: Restore, which reverses the deletion and returns the task to its previous state across all Workspaces, or Eject, which clears the card from the current Workspace while leaving it in the deleted state elsewhere.

There is an option to do both simultaneously in the same menu when choosing to eject or delete the card.

4. The card will disappear from the current Workspace, but will remain in other Project Workspaces in the Deleted State (dark overlay with the trash icon in the middle)
