Calendars define which days count as working days for the purpose of calculating Task dates and durations. Because they're Project-level objects, more than one Calendar can exist within the same Project, and different Tasks or Teams can be assigned different Calendars — so a six-day crew and a five-day trade can sit in the same Plan without their date calculations interfering with each other.
Each Task resolves its working days through a hierarchy (its own Calendar, then its Team's, then a Project default, then a built-in fallback), which means Calendars give teams a consistent, structured way to handle mixed working weeks and holidays without manually adjusting individual Task dates.
