Overview
A Plan is the primary structured layout in Hoylu for scheduling and tracking work — a timeline element placed on a Workspace that organizes Task Cards into one or more Swimlanes. It's connected directly to the Project's Task database, so it stays live, and a Workspace can hold more than one Plan at a time, each covering a different time range, Team, or level of detail while drawing from the same underlying data.
If you want to create an entirely new Plan from scratch, follow these steps:
-
Click on the plus button on the Toolbar
-
Click on Add Plan…
-
Click and drag a Plan of your choosing from the options into an empty area of the Workspace
- Plan - creates a single Swimlane plan
- Plan by Team - creates a Swimlane for each Team
-
Plan by Category - creates a Swimlane for each Label associated to existing Categories (check out this article to see how to set this up beforehand)
- Adjust its placement by grabbing the top edge and clicking and dragging it to your desired location
Plan Settings
-
Click on the three-dot icon to open the Plan Menu
-
Click on Settings
-
Type in a new Plan name
-
Set the start and end date of your Plan
-
Set your Clean up strategy to your preferred duration
- Add, edit, or reorder Swimlanes in the Plan
Plan Options
Clicking on the three-dot icon also shows you several options to organize the Swimlanes of your Plan.
- Clean up & resize all - this will adjust any overlapping elements and set them all in a waterfall based off what you program in the Clean Up Strategy in the Settings menu
- Collapse all swimlanes - Reduces the size of all Swimlanes so they appear as a thin bar, hiding your data until you wish to see them again; this does not hide your data from any reports
- Collapse all empty swimlanes - Reduces the size of all empty Swimlanes so you can hide them until you need to add elements to them
- Expand all swimlanes - Expands all Swimlanes to the lengths they were before they were collapsed
Three additional options appear in this menu:
- Copy Link to element - allows you to copy a Deep Link of the Plan so anyone who accesses the link will be sent directly to the Plan's location in the Workspace
- Copy internal link - best suited when duplicating a Workspace for templating purposes
- Delete plan - Deletes the Plan from the Workspace, but does not delete the Task information
