Group Objects
Grouping objects together is most helpful when creating your own templates or ensuring content will always move together when maneuvering objects in a Workspace.
Figure 1. Group Notes and Shapes.
- Use any Selection Tool (or hold down the Ctrl button and click on the desired objects) to select multiple objects
- In the Context Menu above the selection, click on the multi-selection icon on the left
- Click the Group option
To Ungroup objects, follow the same steps above. The Ungroup option will have replaced the original Group option.
Stack Objects
Stack objects in a Workspace when you would like to sequester content altogether temporarily before breaking them out again later.
Figure 2. Stack and Unstack Notes and Shapes.
- Group the objects together first
- Click on the Grouped objects to show the Context Menu
- Click on the Stack button, as seen in Figure 2
The objects will Stack toward the top left of the Grouped items, and when Unstacked, they will spread back out in the original layout as when it was originally Grouped.
Layer Objects
Hoylu has a natural hierarchy of how objects will sit on top of each other regardless of when they were brought into the Workspace.

However, you can manipulate the layers within each category of objects using the Bring to Front and Send to Back options in the object's Context Menu.
Figure 3. Bring to Front.
- Hover over the object you would like to bring to the front until it floats over the other objects around it
- Click on the object to select it
- Click on the three-dots to open the Context Menu
- Click on the Bring to Front or Send to Back option
🚧 Caution: Remember that this can only be done to the same type of objects; you cannot bring an Image in front of a Note, for example.
